The ugly tree

Long, long ago, in a dense forest, there were thousands of tall and beautiful trees. They were happy, but proud of themselves. Among them there was also an ugly tree, whose branches were badly twisted. Its roots had uneven curves. All the trees made fun of that ugly tree.

"How are you, hunchback?" the others trees always shouted and their laughter made the ugly tree, feel sad. But, he never raised a voice against them. The ugly tree thought: " I wish I were as beautiful as the other trees. Why did God do this to me? Neither can I provide shade to travelers, not can the birds make their nests on me. Nobody needs me."

One day, a woodcutter came to the forest. He took a look at the trees and said: "These trees are lovely. I must cut them". As soon as he picked up his axe, the trees became frightened. 'CHOP, CHOP, CHOP', went the woodcutter's axe and, one by one, the trees started to fall. "None of us is going to be spared", screamed one of the beautiful trees. Soon that tree too was brought to ground by the woodcutter's axe.

By now, the woodcutter had come near to the ugly tree. He had just raised his axe, when, suddenly, he noticed how crooked the ugly tree was. "Hmmm! This croocked tree sems to be useless for me. I cannot make long straight logs of this ugly tree" he thought. And he moved towards another beautiful tree. The ugly tree heaved a huge sigh of relief. He realized that by making him ugly, God had actually given him a boon.

From that day the ugly tree never complained. He was happy with his crooked branches. He never forgot how he was spared from the woodcutter's axe, only because he was crooked and ugly.

Angelina Jordan Astar

Angelina Jordan Astar known professionally as Angelina Jordan is a Norwegian singer, that won the 2014 season of Norway's Got Talent, at the age of nine, singing class jazz pieces, including ''Fly me to the Moon''.
She discovered YouTube when she was one and a half years old. She used the platform to find her favorite songs growing up. She loves jazz songs and she used her weekends to sing those, for her family. A characteristic of this talented girl is that she always sings barefoot on stage. But why? Her mum in a view tells the story. Angelina has previously lived in other countries and, one day abroad,she met a poor woman barefoot on the beach that loved a lot her shoes so she decided to give her the shoes. So she does that for all the womans that don't have the possibility to buy shoes.

The legend of mistletoe

The tradition of  kissing under the mistletoe comes to the legend of Goddess Frigga, the Goddess of love, and her son Balder, the God of summer sun. Once, Balder dreamt of his death, so the mother, Frigga was worried, not only for her son but also for the life of Earth, because she knew that without her son, all life on Earth would come to an end. So Frigga tried to find a plant that cure her son, but she didn't find nothing. However, Loki, the God of evil, enemy of Balder, knew that there was one plant that Frigga forgot: the mistletoe. Loki made an arrow and placed a sprig of this plant and obliged Hoder, the blind brother of Balder, the God of the Winter, to shoot him this arrow. Balder immediately died. For the next three days, only Frigga revived Balder with the help of mistletoe. Her tears on the plant became pearly white berries and she decided that anyone who stands under the mistletoe would never be harmed and would kiss a person, as a took of love.

"Walt Disney Concert Hall"

The Walt Disney Concert Hall is situated on South Grand Avenue, in DownTown, Los Angeles. This building, designed by the famous architect Frank Gehry, was opened on October 23th, 2003. It is the fourth hall of Los Angeles Philarmonic Orchestra and has 2265 seating. The construction of this building was started in 1991, but was stopped from 1994 to 1996 for lack of money. At first should be in stone  bur for these problems, in the end, was in steel. In 2004 there were problems with the reflection, but in 2005 were resolved with a slight sanding. The widow of Walt Disney, Lilian Disney, had the idea of this hall.

 

                                      The Golden Gate Bridge

The Golden Gate Bridge connecting the city of San Francisco with Marin County to its north. It was the bridge with longest span in the world from the time it was completed in 1937, until the completion of another bridge in New York in 1964. The Golden Gate Bridge is 1.7 miles long and, about 41 million trips are made across the bridge each year. Before the only mode of transportation was ferry.

Federica Pellegrini Biography

Federica Pellegrini is an italian swimmer. A native of Mirano, in the province of Venice, she holds the women's 200m freestyle world record, and won a gold medal at the 2008 Bejiing Olympics. At the 2009 World Championships in Rome, Pellegrini became the first woman ever to break 4 minute barrier in the 400m freestyle with a time of 3 minutes. Pellegrini is the only swimmer, male or female, to have won seven medals in a row in the same event at the World Championships. She is also the first female Olympic champion in the history of Italian swimming and the only Italian swimmer to have set world records in more that one event. She loves a lot her family and she has a boyfriend: Filippo Magnini, he also is an Italian swimmer.

 

 IRISH SCHOOL SYSTEM

Education is compulsory for children in Ireland from the ages of six to sixteen. The Irish education system is made up of: primary, secondary and tertiary school. The school is open for all the children, unless you choose to send your child to a private institution. Children don't have to attend school until the age of six. To the primary school are 8 years, where you learn: languages,maths,enviroment and scientific education, physical integration ecc..

Education in Ireland is free at all levels. Students wear uniform. The secondary school is made up of: junior cycle, of 3 years, transition year, of 4 years where you learn work activities and senior cycle, of 2 years. After you must choose if go to tertiary school or not. Tertiary school is made up of:  universities,institutes of technology, colleges of education and Private Colleges.
The different between italian school system and irish school system are little. We start with the nursery school at the age of six, directly with primary school. We don't have to wear uniform and we do, in all, 16 years at school and they do 17 years.
